Webinar on Global Trade Law (Tuesday, 19 May 2026, 12:00–14:00 CEST) and Recent Publications: Lexique juridique du commerce international et européen (November 2025) and Code essentiel du droit du commerce international et européen (forthcoming, May 2026)
Hello Trade Lawyers,
The legal architecture of international trade is undergoing a profound reconfiguration. The traditional balance between multilateral disciplines, regional integration, and domestic regulatory autonomy is increasingly challenged by geopolitical fragmentation, economic security concerns, and the growing sophistication of transnational commercial practices.
In this context, I will present a webinar on Tuesday, 19 May 2026 (12:00–14:00 CEST), dedicated to a structured and practice-oriented analysis of global trade law, with particular emphasis on the interaction between WTO law, European Union trade regulation, and the expanding role of economic sanctions and export control regimes.
The purpose of this session is not merely to provide a descriptive overview, but to offer a coherent analytical framework enabling practitioners, academics, and policymakers to navigate the increasing complexity of international trade law. The discussion will notably address the evolution of the WTO dispute settlement system, the consolidation of the European Union’s trade instruments, the rise of economic security policies, and the growing importance of transnational commercial norms and soft law mechanisms.
This webinar builds on two complementary works.
First, the Lexique juridique du commerce international et européen (November 2025) provides a rigorous and systematic mapping of the key concepts structuring international and European trade law. It is conceived as a reference tool designed to enhance conceptual clarity and analytical precision across the field.
Second, the forthcoming Code essentiel du droit du commerce international et européen (May 2026) offers a consolidated and structured compilation of the principal legal sources governing international trade. It is intended to facilitate both academic analysis and practical application by bringing together, in a coherent framework, the core instruments of the discipline.
Taken together, these contributions aim to support a deeper understanding of the evolving legal infrastructure of global trade, at a time when its coherence must be actively reconstructed rather than presumed.
