Since about a year the Dutch language section of the Brussels Bar has a Commission for International Relations. This Commission has been tasked with maintaining the relations with preferred foreign Bar associations, but also with an interest to engage our own foreign members.
In this light, we would like to invite you to an online conference on:

Overview of Recent Developments and Exchange with the European Commission
Main speaker: Mr. Eddy De Smijter, head of Unit Foreign Subsidies (DG COMP)

Summary:
Regulation (EU) 2022/2560 applies since 13th July 2023 to address distortions caused to the Single Market by foreign subsidies. It intends to ensure a level playing field within this internal market.
The DG COMP (Competition) has the responsibility to enforce the regulation as it comes to concentrations and distorting foreign subsidies.
The DG GROW (internal market, industry, SMEs) has the same and only responsibility as it comes to public procurement procedures.
After three years in a challenging worldwide environment, Mr. Eddy De Smijter will give us his insights and reality check on the implementation of this regulation.
